Just checked out CUSP, a new online sister store of Neiman Marcus, aimed at a younger, trendier audience. There are some pretty great things on there, similiar to Urban Outfitters but with a slightly higher price tag. Here are a few highlights-
Hello! It has been a long summer (and ok , yeah, fall too!) vacation since I have posted, but now I am back! It is getting colder, and I am obsessed with crunchy leaves and fall fashions. Right now Topshop's Unique collection has me filled with nostalgia for my long gone girl scouting days- is it wrong to love the idea of dressing like a grownup 1930's girl scout? If so, I don't want to be right!!
image from www.europestring.com Still recovering from my trip to Cannes last month- so much fun! Not only did I see lots of films, but I also did a lot of shopping! I finally got a chance to visit Zara, a Spanish-based international retail chain- so awesome! They have some really beautiful clothes for women, men and even kids! I was on a pretty tight budget for the film fest, but I did pick up a great black military style button down shirt for my boyfriend, and a terrific pair of wonderfully girly ruffled tulle sandals with ribbon ties! I can't wait to wear these with floaty floral summer dresses and even jeans! they also fit into my current tulle obsession! Right now I am designing tons of pretty necklaces for whiteowl featuring floaty tulle and mixed chains!
Just discovered asos.com! They ship to the US, accept paypal and have literally zillions of super cool items in every category! Just take a look at some of the awesome stuff I found (to add to my long shopping wishlist, sigh!)...
'Mad Max'-like dresses by Cheap Monday- and this cute pantsuit!
So, finally the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target comes out this Sunday, March 7th! The pieces are all very eclectic, ranging in style from punk to girly and beyond, so there should be something for everyone! Here is a quick peek at a page or two out of the Gaultier for Target lookbook- (I want to buy the trench for my trip to France!)
If, as you pack away your winter sweaters, you find any that are just no good (too big, too small, wrong shape), you can always send them off to ReKnit! Check out their site- it is run by a son and his mom who will unravel your old sweater and re-knit it into something new and useable, like gloves, a hat or scarf. March is already booked (she can only do about 30 orders a month), but she does this year round, so start planning now what you want re-purposed for fall! Every month is a specific item (gloves, hat etc) and visitors to the site get to vote on what the next reknit item should be!
March is here at last! Spring is right around the corner...but if you live in a place like Michigan, winter last a really long time! And near the end of the season, your sweaters (which might've been pristine and new in the fall or at Xmas) may look, well, a bit mangy. Those little annoying pills! My favorite Topshop sweater has a nasty case of pilling already, and I just bought it in December! Or worse yet, the wool sweaters may end up moth eaten before next year! So before you put your sweaters away ( or mix them in with your awesome new early spring pieces) here are a few things you may want to pick up to keep those sweaters looking fancy and new-
Whitmore fabric shaver , $14.99, Target (online only)- no more ball-y sweaters! Cedar "moth balls", $3.99 each, The Container Store- an safe, pleasant smelling natural alternative to traditional moth balls (which smell bad and are poisonous!), that will keep the moths from snacking on your wool sweaters without that mothball stink!
So, I recently had an opportunity to get in on a stay at a French villa (and fest passes)for the Cannes Film Festival this upcoming May- naturally I jumped on it! The next question is - What will I wear? So I decided to search the web for my dream wardrobe - perfect for Spring in the South of France... Leading Light Bibi, Anthropologie
2010 is going pretty well for me so far.... I had a great Xmas and new years, plus I love that time after the holidays when everything goes on sale! I bought a great tulle, bead and chain embellished shell at Anthropologie and can't wait to wear it this weekend! Not to mention the fact that I always like to see all the new spring stuff that comes out around now... yay! I want to buy these great boots from urban outfitters for spring... and this nice transitional piece... a cute taupe cardigan from from Topshop!
